Is flood insurance worth it outside a flood zone?
The short answer
Often, yes. Standard policies never cover flood, and a large share of flood claims come from outside high-risk zones — where premiums are also cheapest. If water could conceivably reach you in a hundred-year storm, price a policy before deciding.
